Organizational structure and leadership & management

Task:

Make a summary of five different leadership styles.

  1. Define the styles well

  2. Think about the advantages and disadvantages of the different styles

  3. Think and search examples of these different styles of leaderhip (from your own summer jobs or from the history)

Leadership - Word (Échec de l’activation

Laissez-Faire: This example can already be noticed while studying at university, especially with the online classes, few guidance instructions are given and the students are left alone to deal with different lectures and assignments.

Democratic: Unlike commanding troops during the American Revolution, Washington was notably democratic when guiding the U.S. government. He showed early signs of his democratic leadership style by appointing strong leaders to his staff. His decision not to serve a third term exemplified a democratic leader who knows when to pass the torch.

Situational: Being part of the horse riding club "Shoul's Horse" as a Trainee, I could see how situational leadership was applied. The club was in it starting points and had to adjust to the clients' need in order to gain profit, so the decisions were made based on what time of customers we have, what are the horses available, during what time of the day, who are the teachers available and who are the teachers wanted. The decisions were made by the manager by evaluation these different situations and trying to make a profit while gaining more permanent customers to the horse riding club, and the team where I was included had to act on that.

Paternalistic: Henry Ford is a good example of a Paternalistic Leader. Ford was much more than simply an inventor. He demonstrated leadership qualities that ranged from visionary to a champion for equality and social justice.  And at the same time, his modest upbringing and life perspective further enhanced his already powerful leadership qualities, making his bold achievements all the more impressive.

Autocratic: A  famous Autocratic example is Adolf Hitler, the autocratic German president. Hitler held full power and generally made decisions without consulting the subordinates. His decisions were not discussed and the subordinates tend to carry out the instructions properly and promptly.
